About Me
Hi! I’m Bec Steele – a physiotherapist, Pilates instructor and mum of 3. My passion is to help women feel stronger and more in control of their bodies again, especially after having children or simply after time away from exercise. Women’s bodies are absolutely amazing, and need to be nurtured and respected throughout our life stages.
Women are often unhappy with their core and pelvic floor muscle strength but don’t know what exercises are best to do. I see clinically that starting with exercises that are too high level for where you are at is ineffective and at times detrimental. Knowing what exercises to do and how to progress them is the key to noticing positive changes in your body.
So…… “Core Fit by Bec” was born. My goal on this website is to have workouts that will challenge and strengthen most women but with progression and instruction to help avoid poor movement and muscle recruitment patterns and optimize the effectiveness of your workout.
Let’s face it – we are all busy, and being able to exercise at a time and place that suits you just makes sense. The workouts you will find on “Core Fit by Bec” vary from an absolute beginner level with my program called “Pelvic Floor and Core Restoration” up to higher level weights and HIIT style workouts. They all focus on improving your core strength and I have tried to avoid exercises which I know that most women perform poorly when beginning a strengthening journey. So if you don’t see exercises that you’re used to seeing in PT or bootcamp style workouts, it’s because I would not be happy with you doing them without someone who understands the pelvic floor checking your technique first. It doesn’t mean that they are “bad” or should never be done, but I don’t feel comfortable recommending them without supervision.
My workouts consist of a fusion of Pilates and weights exercises and some use equipment such as balls, theraband, weights and Pilates rings, while others use no equipment. Equipment can be great for challenging you and changing the focus of an exercise as well as keeping things fun. But to get started, all you need is some floor space and a positive attitude!
I’m so thrilled that you are joining me on this journey of strengthening and self-discovery. Please reach out with any questions and I’ll help you as best I can.
Much love,
Bec
